Sad News

I received news yesterday that Percy’s buddy Leo was tragically involved in an accident that took his life. I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow that his owner Danielle must be going through. Leo was the sweetest little boy pup and I am sure he is now frolicing in a great big grass covered dog park filled with tennis balls.

R.I.P. Leo, you will be missed.

Percy is growing so big and we have been so busy doing fun stuff (and sometimes not so fun stuff) that I haven’t had time to post. This weekend was fun filled and I promise to clue you in on it soon. I am uploading images to Flickr right now so if you want to take a sneak peak and form your own conclusions (and see how big the little guy has grown) … feel free to do so!

What A Great Big Holiday Weekend…

Percy had a giant weekend this Memorial Day weekend.

Saturday morning we went to puppy playtime at Ahimsa in Ballard. I originally thought it was going to be great and Percy would get worn out and he’d run non-stop and play the whole time. BOY, was I wrong….

Still pathetically walking on his collar, Percy was carried into Ahimsa the promptly crawled into my purse the second playtime began. When removed from my purse he whimpered at my feet while all the other dogs played around him. In his defense he was the youngest and towards the end he seemed a little interested but not interested enough to really leave my side.

After puppy playtime Percy went home for a nap and Jessica and I headed out apartment hunting. I found a great place near my work and Percy and I will soon be moving there. He will be losing his yard but there is a dog park nearby and great places to walk. If only I could get him to do that onĀ  leash…

Sunday morning we woke up and I again carried Percy over to my friend Kurt’s house for a pancake breakfast. Percy got to meet everyone and played in the flowers off of Kurt’s back patio. [note to Kurt: sorry my puppy ruined your flowers]

I am happy to say that Percy did manage to somehow miraculously walk all the way home from Kurt’s house! It did take up awhile but he was a little trooper and so tired once we arrived home.

Monday was Percy’s biggest day of all. I had not one but two BBQ’s at my house. Complete with other dogs for Percy to play with. Between all of the people and the other dogs chasing him around he was exhausted. All-in-all, it was a great weekend for both of us!

The last two days have been a whirlwind of fun…

Yesterday Percy went to his first vet appointment at Phinney Ridge Animal Hospital. They were great and Percy has a clean bill of health. He didn’t like getting his shots so much but he’s a trooper and the stop at Mud Bay afterwards made up for it.

This morning we went for coffee at The Dray. Percy’s not so good about walking on the leash but we made it about 1 block before he refused to budge so he’s improving. He now know SIT, COME, and TOUCH commands – not perfectly but he can do them if he feels like it. He’s been great about using the bathroom outside and really loves his crate.
Percy had his first photo shoot today. I really wanted to make sure that I captured his puppy-ness while he was young so I sought out a photographer to do it properly. I’ve never hired a pet photographer before (this is my first pet) and I wanted to make sure I got someone that could capture his emotion not just how cute he is – because, afterall, he’s a pretty cute subject to begin with.

Working with Kim of Kim Hayes Photography was great. She knew exactly what to do to get him to look at the camera and play without it seeming coerced. I can’t wait to get the photos back. She’s got an amazing portfolio and she not only does animals she does wedding and other life events as well.

I would recommend her to anyone. I will post the pictures once I get them!

After such a big day Percy is like a wet noodle. He lifts his head from his bed every so often to make sure he’s not missing anything and then drifts back off to sleep. I wish I had his life….

First Full Day

Percy seems to love his crate and has taken to potty training quite well. He’s been pottying outside all day! This morning we tried to go for a walk but quickly discovered its not quite yet Percy’s thing so he walked to downtown Ballard in his pouch.

The morning also started with a bath which I was delighted to see that he didn’t really seem to mind… although this picture tells a slightly different story.

But the highlight was how well he has taken to the “COME” command, the fact that he already knows his name and that he LOVES fetching mini tennis balls.

Guess What……
